FAQs
Common questions about our Mini Silo Drum Conversion Kits
Drum Info
Which drums are compatible?
Any standard 44-gallon (220L) drum with a 600mm base – metal or plastic. Food-grade drums are ideal.
Do you sell the drum too?
No, we only supply the mini silo base kit, then you add your own drum on top. But if you don’t have any lying around, 44-gallon food-grade drums are easy to find on Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace and Google search.
Why doesn’t it come with a drum?
To keep costs low! Many of us have drums lying around already, so our kit means your drums don’t go to waste and you don’t have to pay an exorbitant amount for a combined setup. Drums are also cheap to buy locally, but really expensive to ship because of the bulk, so just selling the drum conversion kit also keeps shipping costs down.
Assembly & Use
Do I need special tools?
Just a few basics: a drill, rivet gun, 2 × 10mm spanners, and an angle grinder or similar to cut out the base of the drum. No welding or special gear required.
Is it hard to assemble?
Not at all. We include all the parts and a step-by-step guide in the box, or you can view our assembly instructions.
Can I fully seal the drum?
Yes. The design forms a snug fit on its own, but you can add a bead of silicone around the cone for a 100% sealed, rodent-proof finish.
Is it stable on uneven ground?
Yes. The adjustable feet help level it out, and you can peg or bolt the frame down if needed.
What types of feed can I use?
It works great with pellets, grain, kibble, scratch mix, and most dry feed. It’s not suitable for chaff or loose powders though.

We sure do. Shipping options will automatically show at checkout once you enter your address, but please get in touch if you’d like to discuss your options.
Shipping to my area is really expensive, are there any alternatives
If the shipping options provided at checkout aren’t suitable, please contact us. We know shipping can get expensive, especially to rural areas. We’ve done all we can to reduce freight costs, but we’ll do our best to find a custom solution or workaround for you.
Tip: Sometimes collecting from the post office or sending to an alternate address (even down the road) can make a huge difference in shipping cost!
